July Meeting and Pig Roast
Bass Lake Lodge
C'mon out to Bass Lake for Roast Pig and a great time!
Speaker: Betty Darst
July’s meeting will be a pig roast at Bass Lake, which is located across the runway off of loop road on Wright Patterson. This will be a delightful evening to share with your spouse, family and friends. If we get enough attendance the club will roast the entire pig for the event. This is a casual event – no coat and tie needed. Betty Darst will do another one of her fabulous presentations--this one titled “Beyond the Pages.” Betty used to spend Sunday afternoons with Horace (Buzz) Wright nephew of the Orville and Wilbur – He said that he told her things he had never told anyone else because no one ever asked him. Betty gives a remarkable personal perspective to David McCullough’s biography of the Wright Brothers – she might even tell you how she would have ended the book. She’s also researched the Wrights’ interaction with our namesake Frank P. Lahm. Please call our Provost Marshall, Ed Mentzer (937-426-8807) by COB, 13 July, as the Club requires an initial count on Friday, 14 July. If you cannot call by Thursday, Ed will still accept reservations through Monday, 17 July. For those who prefer e-mail, Ed will take e-mail reservations at: lahmreservations@aol.com. You may also use this website (Apollo.daedalians.org) to sign up. Cancellations must be made by COB, Monday, 19 July, to avoid being billed for the price of the meal. Cost is $32 for non-Club members, and $30 for members.
